Golden Wedding of Mr. & Mrs. Fred Parker
of Higham Ferrers
Went to School Together
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parker, of High-street, Higham Ferrers, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, when congratulations were showered on them by hosts of friends.

The romance had an early beginning, for Mr. and Mrs. Parker were friends when, as children, they attended the old Grammar School at Higham.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred ParkerThey were married at the Parish Church, Higham Ferrers, on Easter Monday. April 14th, 1879, when there was deep snow on the ground. The Rev. E. Templeman officiated, and Miss Marriott (now Mrs. Joll) was at the organ.

Mrs. Parker is the only daughter of the late Mr. William Brown, maltster, and Mr. Parker is the ninth son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Parker, also of Higham Ferrers. Both have resided in the town all their lives, and are exceedingly well-known and respected.

They have always been very interested in the affairs of the town, and as members of St. Mary's Church are specially interested in various Church organisations, and liberally support any special efforts.

For 20 years Mr. Parker was the superintendent of the Sunday School, and for many years a sidesman.

Until the office was abolished, Mr. Parker was an overseer, and also for a number of years hon. secretary of the Higham Ferrers Conservative Association.

Mr. Parker is now head of the firm of Messrs. Fred Parker and Son, wheelwright and motor engineers. He is assisted by his son, Mr. F. W. Parker, and there are also two daughters, Mrs. A. E. Lloyd and Miss A. F. Parker, and four grandchildren.
