Golden Wedding
On Christmas Day two well-known inhabitants celebrated their golden wedding, namely, Mr. and Mrs. George Newman, of Newton-road, they being married at the Parish Church by the Rev. G. Pratt on Christmas Day, 1874. Mr. G. Newman is a well-known builder, and a native of Eastbourne. Before coming to Wollaston he assisted in building the Congregational Chapel, Rock-street Schools, and Gillett’s butcher's shop at Wellingborough. Mrs. Newman was a Miss Percival, of Irchester. They have two sons and a daughter in Canada, and one daughter, Mrs. C. W. Perkins, resides in Newton-road.
