Gwen’s Gift for Charity

CHARITY worker Gwen Murdin is involved with so many good causes she found it impossible to choose one for the proceeds of her fundraising civic ball.

Eventually Cllr Murdin, immediate past chairman of East Northants Council, decided to give the £1,271.07 raised to the ET-backed CAT Scanner Appeal.

She said: "I am involved in so many charities it was difficult to pick one out.

"I decided on the CAT Scanner Appeal because it is something which will benefit people from the whole of the district."

Mrs Murdin was accompanied by two of her helpers in staging the ball, Cllr Harold Binder and Cllr Les Jennings, when she handed over her cheque to Dr Louise Sheppard, of the CAT Scanner Appeal committee at Rushden Hall.

Mrs Murdin, left, gives the cheque to Dr Sheppard, with, from left, Mr Binder, East Northants Council chief executive Roger Heath and Mr Jennings.

During her year of office Mrs Murdin also raised £380 for Barnardo's at a cheese and wine party.
