Rushden Echo, 30th June 1922, transcribed by Kay Collins

Podington
The marriage took place at the Parish Church on Monday, the Vicar (Rev W Kitchen) officiating, of Mrs Rebecca Bird, formerly cook to Mr Orlebar (and widow of the late Mr F Bird, of Rushden), to Mr William Meadows, foreman porter at the M.R. Station, Belper, Derbyshire, who is a native of Hinwick. The bride, who wore a dark blue velvet dress, and cream lace, with hat to match, was given away by her son, Mr J Bird, of Rushden, and Mrs J Bird attended the bride. Mrs R R B Orlebar officiated at the organ and played festal music. After the ceremony Lieut-Colonel and Mrs Orlebar held a reception, about 40 guests being present, and subsequently the bride and bridegroom left for Derbyshire. The presents included a handsome dressing-case from Colonel and Mrs Orlebar, and the members of the Women’s Institute gave the bride a gold brooch.
