Higham Ferrers Man Goes to Tanganyika

Younger son of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Groome, of “East Lee,” 13 Lancaster-street, Higham Ferrers, Mr. John Stuart Groome has left this country for Tanganyika Territory, to take up an appointment to the Colonial Forestry Service as Forestry Officer.

Mr. Groome is 22 years of age and an old boy of the Wellingborough School. He left there three years ago to become a student at Edinburgh University, where he took his BSc Degree in 1943. At Higham Ferrers he belonged to the Methodist Church and was a member of the Home Guard – an activity he also kept up while in Scotland.

His elder brother, Flying Officer Norman Groome, is in the India Command.
