| The Marriage took place at the Wesleyan Church, Irchester, on Saturday of Sergt. Harry Bertram Dickens, Northants Regiment, elder son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Dickens, of 10 Midland-cottages, Wellingborough, to Miss Lottie Brown, of Irchester. The bride has for a long time been associated with the Irchester Wesleyan Church and schools, and the bridegroom is well known at Wellingborough. The bride, who was given away by Mr Edward George, was dressed in a navy blue costume and white velour hat, and her two attendants, Miss Ruby George and Miss Ivy George, wore fawn coloured costumes, with hats to match. Mr Ernest Dickens, brother of the bridegroom, was best man.
During the service, which was conducted by the Rev J Penrose Hodgsen, of Wellingborough, the hymns, “The Voice that breathed o’er Eden” and “O perfect love,” were sung, the choir, of which Miss Brown was a member, being present.
Mr Cecil George, of Rushden, was at the organ, and played appropriate festal music before and after the ceremony. At the close a reception at the Co-operative Hall was attended by over 100 guests, and Sergt. and Mrs Dickens received hearty good wishes from their friends. Both bride and bridegroom had many beautiful and valuable presents.
