Rushden Argus, 29th June 1917, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr. E. T. Cross

Presentation—An interesting presentation took place on Saturday, when Mr. E. T. Cross, the chief goods clerk, was handed tokens of esteem, on behalf of the staff of the Higham Ferrers Passenger and Goods Stations, on his leaving the company’s employ for H.M. Forces. Mr. J. C. Gregory, the stationmaster, on behalf of the staff, made the presentation, and voiced the regret they felt, and the good wishes they desired to be conveyed to Mr. Cross. The presents were a silver cigarette case, a pipe in case, and tobacco pouch. Mr. Cross, who has been 8½ years with the company, suitably acknowledged the nice gifts and good wishes.
