OBITUARY—F. Young, of the Raunds Unity F. C., and also Cricket Club, died on Wednesday the 11th inst, after suffering from a throat disease for about ten months. He was an inpatient of the Northampton Infirmary for 14 weeks, but finding that he got no relief he returned home. It appeared in a local paper that Young received an injury to his throat when playing in a match, and was pronounced incurable. It cannot however be positively attributed to football, as when he received this knock he was suffering from a bad throat, and his doctor says it was a disease that all are liable to. He was buried on Saturday last in the churchyard, on which day, had he been alive he would have attained the age of 25 years. Young played in one County Reserves match v. Cambridge Reserves at Wellingborough two years last Saturday. He was known in his cricket team as a good batsman, though not a fast scorer. One of his best innings being against Wellingboro’ Town last year (1888) when he scored 16, staying nearly through the innings. The members of the Raunds Cricket Club headed the funeral, and a wreath was placed on the coffin with the inscription "With deepest sympathy from the members of the Raunds Cricket Club." Young was much respected, and had many friends during his long and painful illness.
