Mr. P. BROWNThe death occurred at Skipton, Yorks, on Monday of Mr. Fred Brown. He was a native of the village and worked on the railway at Skipton. Three sisters, Mrs. G. H. Cooper, Miss Zilpah Brown and Mrs. L. Hunt (Coventry), and one brother, Mr. Leonard Brown, are bereaved. Deceased was unmarried.

OLD LACEMAKERThe death has occurred at the age of 86 of Mrs. M. A. M. Wykes. Deceased was one of the last of the old Bedfordshire lace makers and in her very young days attended a lace school. She could also recall the days when Cattern teas were held. On these occasions several lace makers gathered together and made lace by the light of one wax candle, a luxury which no individual lace maker could afford, and the old-fashioned Cattern cake was eaten. Mrs. Wykes was a native of Podington and had lived there all her life. The funeral took place on Saturday, conducted by Rev. V. J. H. Coles. The mourners were: Miss P. E. Wykes (daughter), Mr. W Wykes (nephew), Mrs. M. E. Nightingale (niece), Mrs. C. Boddington, Irchester (sister-in-law), Mrs. R. Cooper and Mrs. G. Wyatt (nieces), Mrs. French, Mrs. B James, Mrs. G. H. Cooper and Miss L. Brown (friends). The elder daughter, Miss Ellen Wykes, died in May of last year.
