The death occurred of a well-known resident of Higham Ferrers on Monday morning in the person of Mr W Warner, of 26, High-street. Aged 84 years, he had been in failing health for some time although not confined to bed.
A native of the borough, he was born at 26, High-street, and lived in the house all his life. Many years ago he was a “boot blocker” by trade and did work for various firms in the district, while he was later employed by Messrs. Thomas Sanders Ltd., of Higham Ferrers.
Mr Warner was one of the oldest Bedesmen of the borough. He had done no work since the death of his wife some ten years ago. One son (who is in New York), and four daughters are bereaved. The funeral took place on Wednesday, a service at St Mary’s Church, Higham Ferrers, being conducted by the Rev B E Owen. The mourners were: Mr and Mrs Perkins (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs Cox and Mr H Perkins (daughter and grandson), Mr and Mrs Rae (son-in-law and daughter), Mrs Miller and Mrs Corby (nieces), Mrs Waplington and Mrs Rogers (nieces), and Mrs Hickman.
Mr Arthur Sanders carried out the funeral arrangements.
