Raunds Soldier Dies – Succumbs to Heart Disease

The death of Pte. Francis Wm. Warner, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Warner, of Brook-street, Raunds, took place on Wednesday about 6.30a.m. Pte. Warner, who was 18 years of age last December, enlisted in the 8th Northants in October, and after three weeks’ training at Rushden he was moved to Colchester. He was home on leave in January last and soon after returning to Colchester he was taken ill and was a patient at a Military Hospital there until he was removed to Raunds on April 22nd. Since Easter he had been wheeled about in a bath chair and was out as recently as Sunday last. He was taken worse about 3a.m. on Wednesday, and died three hours later from valvular disease of the heart. The funeral takes place tomorrow.
