We regret to state that Sgt. R.H. Ward, 6th Battalion, The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey( Regiment, was killed in action in France on March 7th. Deceased, who was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ward, of High-street, Stanwick, was for a time in the 21st Lancers, but bought himself out. At the outbreak of the war he was an employee of Callender’s Cable Company at Woking, but joined up again the first week of the war.
