Raunds Man Killed
Mrs. Thomas Hall, of Harcourt Street, Raunds, has received a letter informing her of the death of her eldest son, Pte George Thurlow, of the London Regt., who was killed in ... on April 11th. They were lining a hedge along a road when the enemy artillery opened fire on it, and Pte. Thurlow, was instantaneously killed by a fragment of shell. He joined up last September and went out to France on the 3rd of the present month, having only been there eight days when he met his death. He would have been 19 years of age had he lived until next month. Previous to joining up he was employed at the St. Crispin Productive Society’s boot factory.
