William Wilson Smith

Fall in His Home Proved Fatal

The Northampton Coroner, Mr. A. J. Darnell, returned a verdict of “Accidental Death” at Northampton General Hospital on Tuesday at his inquest on William Wilson Smith (85), retired farmer, Poplars Farm, Wymington, who died in the Hospital on Saturday. Evidence of identification was given by Nurse Margaret Blair.

A daughter of the deceased, Mrs. Muriel Wilson Cunnington, of Sutton Coldfield, said that on November 23rd her father slipped in the hall at his home, and, on the advice of a doctor, was removed three days later to hospital.

Dr. Maeve Powell, house surgeon at the Hospital, stated that when admitted on November 26th, Smith was suffering from a fractured thigh. A minor operation was performed, but his condition deteriorated, and he died on December 2nd.
