Wollastonian Seriously Wounded
Pte. Wm. Thos. Rose, of the Northants Regiment, eldest son of Mr. Thos. Rose, Newton-road, Wollaston, our local correspondent, is officially reported to be dangerously wounded, and in No. 3 Casualty Clearing Hospital, France. Pte. W. T. Rose, who is 19 years of age, enlisted last November, and has been in France a month. He was at home six weeks ago. Prior to enlistment he was a clicker in the employ of Messrs. Rivett Bros., shoe manufacturers, and also a member of the Wollaston V.T.C. A letter has since been received from Lance-Corpl. Horace Catlin, of the R.A.M.C., the son of Mr. T. Catlin, stating that he found Pte. Rose severely wounded by shrapnel in the legs, arm, and back, suffering from exhaustion. An improvement was shown in two days, and hopes are entertained that the brave lad may pull through.
