Lance-Corporal Dies in Hospital
On Tuesday morning last Mrs. Robinson of 9, Hill Street, Raunds received a letter from the sister in charge of the No.2 General Hospital, Le Havre, France, saying that her husband Lance-Corporal John Robinson, Northants Regiment, was very ill in hospital with pneumonia and his condition was very grave. By the same post she received notification from the Infantry Record Office, Warley, also informing her that he had been admitted to No.2 General Hospital Le Havre, France. The same evening she received two telegrams together, both from Warley, one saying her husband was dangerously ill and regretting permission to visit him could not be granted; the other one regretted to inform her that her husband died (influenza) in No. 2 General Hospital on October 20th. Lance Corporal Robinson was 26 years of age and had been in the army 11 years. He had been wounded twice and also gassed and had had enteric fever. He leaves a widow and one child. His parents reside in Kettering.
