We sincerely regret to report that Mr and Mrs Enoch Reynolds, of 5 New-street, Irchester, have received official news that their son, Pte Frederick Eli Reynolds, of the Royal Irish Regiment, was killed in action on August 4th.

The sad news is confirmed by Captain R C MacGarth, who writes under date August 22nd as follows: “It is with deepest regret I have to inform you that your son was killed in action on August 4th. It is very hard for me to express how sorry I am for you in your great loss. Your son was in my company for a long time, during which time he acted as servant to one of my officers, who was also killed. He was a splendid boy, and died like a soldier, fighting for his country. I am glad to say he suffered no pain.”

The late Pte Reynolds, who was formerly employed by Messrs Jaques and Clark, boot manufacturers, Rushden, was 22 years of age. He enlisted on October 25th 1915, and proceeded to the Western front in February this year. As a lad he passed through the Irchester Wesleyan Sunday school.

Mr and Mrs Reynolds have another son serving their country, viz., Driver Leslie Reynolds, of the R.F.A., who is in training at Swanage, Dorset.
