Burning Fatality at Raunds
Old Lady’s Sad Death – The Inquest

Mr. J. T. Parker coroner, held an inquest at Raunds on Wednesday respecting the death of Mary Ann Jane Price, aged 70, wife of James Price, shoe-hand, Wellington-road, Raunds, who died from the effects of burns on Saturday.

It appeared that deceased, who was in feeble health and suffered from paralysis, was left in a room by herself for a short time on Feb. 21st, and soon afterwards a neighbour heard moans in the house.

On the daughter being called she discovered her mother lying in front of the fire with her clothes burning. The doctor was called in and found deceased suffering from severe burns at the bottom of the back and thigh, and she died from the effects of burns on Saturday last.

A verdict of “Accidental death” was returned.
