FUNERALThe funeral of Mr. Thos. Partridge took place last Sunday in the Parish Churchyard, the Rev. G. O. Parr officiating.
This is the first Nonconformist funeral in the village under the Burial Act. The corpse was taken to the Independent Wesleyan Chapel, where a short service was held. The chapel was full. Fifty-one years ago the deceased joined the Wesleyan Methodists of Bozeat, but seceded at the time of the reform movement, and has been a member of the Independent Wesleyan body ever since. He has been confined to his room for six years or more, but bore his affliction with great patience. Deceased, although not taking a very prominent place in church matters, yet was a useful member, constant in his attendance when in health, and much respected by the members of the church. His wife has been afflicted for a great many years, they have had a hard struggle, but his faith in God was great, and his piety unquestioned. In the evening Mr. Parr preached an appropriate sermon from 1 Kings xiv.,13. The sermon was attentively listened to by a crowded congregation. Some of deceased's favourite hymns were sung in the chapel and at the grave.
