Captain Richard Orlebar

VILLAGE LANDOWNER DIES IN HIS SLEEP

Landwoner Captain Richard Orlebar (85) died at his Hinwick House home in the early hours of yesterday. He had been suffering from bronchial pneumonia since Christmas.

The funeral will take place at St Mary's Church, Podington next Tuesday. He will be buried in the family vault.

His wife, Barbara, said her husband died peacefully in his sleep.

Captain Orlebar was educated at Rugby and Pembroke College, Cambridge, before serving in World War One with the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire regiments.

He married in 1935 and inherited the 18th century Hinwick House on the death of his father, Richard Rouse Boughton Orlebar.

Captain Orlebar leaves three children, Robert, Richard and Lucy. He also has four grandsons and a granddaughter.
