Mr Frank Mitchell, aged 80, who died at Finedon a few days ago, was for many years a familiar figure on the Northampton and Peterborough railway as the stationmaster at Ditchford. Ditchford was at one period used a good deal by Rushden people, who used a short sut across the meadows by way of the footpath from near Sanders’ Lodge; and Ditchford was also used by some Finedon people, who found it nearer than going to Higham Ferrers or Wellingborough station when they wanted to travel on the L.N.W.
Mr Mitchell retired many years ago and, after residing in Wellingborough for a time, settled down in Finedon. |
