Higham Ferrers War Victim
The Death of Pte. H. Miller - Official News
In our last issue we published the sad news that Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller, of 90 High-street, Higham Ferrers, had received information from the British Red Cross Society that their son, 20210 Pte. H. Miller, of the South Staffordshire Regiment, had died whilst a prisoner of war.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller have now received official news confirming their son’s death, and further information from the Red Cross is to the effect that he was reported taken prisoner at Gommcourt on March 15th. On a list dated May 29th, news was received from Berlin that he died in Bay-Kriegs Laz, Abtl. 62, death being caused by wounds in the right hip by machine gun.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller have received many letters expressing sympathy with them in their bereavement, including one from the Mayor of Higham Ferrers (Ald. T. Patenall). They desire through our columns to express their sincere thanks to all who have shown such kindly thought for them in their time of trouble.
