Killed in France Higham N.C.O. Makes Great Sacrifice

News arrived last Friday that another local soldier, Lce-cpl Clive Marriott, of an infantry regiment, has been killed in action in Normandy.

Aged 23 vears, Lce-cpl. Marriott was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs W Marriott, of York-road, Higham Ferrers, and in March of this year he married Miss Beryl Millard, of Meppershall.

Lce-cpl Marriott had previously been employed by his uncle Mr. Robt Marriott builder having completed his apprenticeship just before joining the Army.

Two brothers are serving; P.O. Telegraphist R S Marriott is in Ceylon and Staff Sergt. D A Marriott is near the Burma frontier. Another brother Mr G W Marriott, is a member of the Special Constabulary.
