Mr. William Layram

The Funeral took place on Saturday last of the late Mr. William Layram, for 23 years coachman to Dr. J. Crew. Mr. Layram, who was 59 years of age, had suffered from cancer in the stomach and liver, and was taken ill about two years ago. In August last year he became worse, and an examination revealed the fact that he was suffering from cancer. He gradually grew worse, but bore his sufferings with great fortitude. He passed away peacefully at about 4.30a.m. on August 8. Previous to coming to Higham Ferrers, deceased resided at Finedon, where, for over ten years he was one of the church bell ringers. Service was held in the Parish Church at Higham Ferrers on Saturday, the Vicar (Rev. H. K. Fry) officiating. [a list of mourners and wreaths follows.]

The interment took place at the Cemetery.
