| The Death took place on Tuesday week of Mr. Thomas Lamb, aged 82, who was born in the house in High-street in which he died. As a young man he volunteered during the Crimean War, for service with his County regiment, and did duty both in Gibraltar and Ireland. A member of the old Fire Brigade, and of Friendly Societies, he was highly respected. His wife predeceased him nine years ago, and he leaves three daughters. The funeral took place last Friday, the first portion of the obsequies being conducted at the deceased’s residence by the Rev. H. Long, who also officiated at the graveside.
The mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Partridge (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs. G. Tailby (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. J. Clark and Miss Clark (son-in-law and grand-daughter), the Misses F. and A. Partridge, Mrs. Leonard Clark, and Miss N. Partridge (grand-daughters), Mr. and Mrs. G. Smith, of Northampton (nephew and niece), and Mrs. Middleton (niece). A Guard of Honour was furnished by the Higham Ferrers Fire Brigade in uniform. A number of wreaths from the family were placed on the grave, including one from Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Warren (son-in-law and daughter), of Winnipeg, Canada.
