Irchester Casualty - Private William Joyce Killed
As stated in last week’s “Rushden Echo”, Pte William Joyce, of the East Surrey Regt. (son of Mr T Joyce, Sherwoods-terrace, Irchester) has been killed. Pte A Clarke writes to Mr and Mrs Joyce to say that Pte Joyce was killed instantly in action on Sept. 1st. Pte Joyce was 23 years of age in April last. He enlisted in Kitchener’s Army on Sept. 7th, 1914, and embarked for France on Aug. 19, 1915.
