Mr William Ingram
Died on Day of Retirement
Inquest on Higham Ferrers Licensee


The fact that Mr William Ingram (60) died on the day of his retirement as tenant of the Queen’s Head, Higham Ferrers, was mentioned at the inquest held at the Green Dragon Hotel, Higham Ferrers, on Saturday afternoon.

The widow, Mrs Minnie Flanders Ingram, said her husband had been suffering from a nervous complaint ever since the last war.

Between 2.30 and 3pm on December 27th when they were living at the Queen’s Head Inn, where they were tenants, she heard her husband moaning in the yard and found him lying obviously badly injured. There was nothing to show if he had tripped over anything, but his legs gad been weak for some time.

She sent for the nurse and doctor, and deceased was taken to Northampton General Hospital, returning on January 9th. On Thursday, February 4th, Mrs Ingram added they gave up the tenancy of the Queen’s Head and moved to 12 York-road. Her husband was unconscious at the time of removal and died at 11.30…………………..
