Killed In Action - Mrs Charles Haddon of 5 Lancaster-street, Higham Ferrers, has received unofficial news that her son, Pte. William Haddon, Northants regiment, has been killed in action, The news is sent by Pte. J Childs, of Higham Ferrers, in a letter to his wife. The late Pte. Haddon, who was formerly employed by Mr F D Brazier, had served nearly three years with the Colours. Before enlistment he was an N.C.O. of the Wesleyan Boys' Brigade, and when on leave about two months ago he went on two or three occasions to drill his old company.

Official News has now been received by Mrs Haddon, of Lancaster-street, Higham Ferrers, that her son, Pte. Haddon, has been killed in action. He has previously been reported in the “Rushden Echo” as unofficially notified killed.

Higham Ferrers - Pte. William Haddon, Northants Regt., only son of Mr and the late Mr Charles Haddon, Lancaster-street, Higham Ferrers, has made the supreme sacrifice, having been killed in action on March 25th. Deceased, who was 21 years of age, enlisted in August 1915, prior to which time he was in the employ of Mr F D Brazier, coach builder. As a lad he passed through the Wesleyan Methodist Sunday school, and he was also a member of the Wesleyan Boys’ Brigade, in which he was sergeant. Pte Haddon, who was home on leave about three months ago, had served two years on the Western front. When the deceased soldier was only about a year old his father died, and his mother, who is highly respected at Higham Ferrers, brought up the family of one son and two daughters.
