Wollaston Prisoner Dies of Wounds

Pte. Ben Griggs, of the Northants regiment, youngest son of Mr. B. Griggs, shoe manufacturer, Wollaston (and husband of Mrs. Griggs, Charles-street, Earls Barton), who had been missing since the battle of the Dunes on July 10th, is now reported dead. Official news has now been received that he died from wounds (in the abdomen) on July 11th, while a prisoner of war in one of the German military hospitals, and was buried in the cemetery near. He was 29 years of age, having enlisted in February 1916. Prior to this he was a shoe operative in the employ of Messrs. R. Griggs and Co., shoe manufacturers, Wollaston. He also spent a few years in Australia. He was a high esteemed member of the Wollaston Band Club.
