John W. Gilby, farm labourer, of Ringstead, was last Friday afternoon poisoned as a result of drinking sheep-dipping poison in mistake for tea.
Deceased, nearly 70 years of age, was working with Mr. Ratcliffe, of Ringstead and was engaged in sheep dipping. He went to his lunch basket, took out what he thought was a bottle of tea, and drank some of the contents. Actually he had taken a bottle containing sheep dipping poison. Dr. McInnes did all he could, but Mr. Gilby died within two hours.
