—Lance Corporal L. Garfirth (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) husband of Mrs. Garfirth, High Street Wollaston, was killed on March 22nd in France. His Captain writes: "He was killed on March 22nd while bravely firing his Lewis gun to cover the retirement of his men. He was a very good soldier and a most efficient N.C.O. He will be missed very much in his Company, as he was very popular with everyone.€"

He was 22 years of age and joined up nearly three years ago, prior to which he was a pressman in the employ of the Northants Productive Society.
