Lance Corporal L. Garfirth (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders) husband of Mrs. Garfirth, High Street Wollaston, was killed on March 22nd in France. His Captain writes: "He was killed on March 22nd while bravely firing his Lewis gun to cover the retirement of his men. He was a very good soldier and a most efficient N.C.O. He will be missed very much in his Company, as he was very popular with everyone."He was 22 years of age and joined up nearly three years ago, prior to which he was a pressman in the employ of the Northants Productive Society.
