Stanwick Corporal Killed in Action
We regret to report the death of Corpl. C. W. Foskett, who was killed in action on Oct. 30th while leading a number of men over a deadly open place to the first line of trenches in Belgium. A letter was received by his aunt, Mrs. Chris. Clarke, of Stanwick, from a friend of the late Corpl. C. W. Foskett, who said: “I daresay you would be very much upset when you heard the sad news, but I am pleased to tell you that he suffered no pain.” The late Corpl. Foskett was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Foskett, of Stanwick, who emigrated to Canada some years ago. He was in the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, in reserve, and was called up at the outbreak of war. He leaves a widow and three children; the youngest was born the day after he left home. He was much liked and respected , and was in the Church Choir, Stanwick, and much sympathy is felt with his widow and parents.
