Rushden Echo, January 11th 1924, transcribed by Kay Collins
Mr. Frederick Draper

Ex-Sergeant’s Death—Many of our readers in this district and abroad will learn with regret of the death, which occurred on Wednesday at his residence in Wood-street of Mr. Frederick Draper, aged 61. Deceased was one of the best known figures in Higham Ferrers. He was an army pensioner, and during the last war he did strenuous duty as a recruiting sergeant for Higham Ferrers, Rushden, and district. A year or two ago he bought a commercial motor and as long as he was able to get about was busily occupied as carrier. He had formerly been a cab proprietor, giving up when the horse drawn cab ceased to be a paying concern on the advent of the motor car. Mr. Draper had been ailing for some time with bronchitis, being worse than usual during the past six weeks. He had had to keep to his bed for the last three weeks. Deceased leaves besides the widow one daughter to mourn their loss.
