Mr. Jack Cox
Rushden Echo & Argus, 26th January 1951, transcribed by Kay Collins

Death of Mr. J. Cox at Raunds
A Newsagent at Raunds for 60 years, Mr. Jack Cox passed away on Wednesday evening at his home, 7, Blotts Gardens, Raunds. He was 81.

Mr. Cox was known by people all over the district, having met and chatted with them while selling newspapers in the area of The Square.

A keen follower of cricket and football, Mr. Cox had played cricket for Raunds Town and Raunds Wesleyan clubs. After the 1914-18 war he did quite a bit of umpiring. He still attended the home matches of Raunds Town F.C. whenever possible.

He leaves a widow and one son, Mr. Herbert Cox. The funeral will take place on Saturday with cremation at Kettering.
