Wellingborough & Kettering News 23/05/1890, transcribed by Peter Brown
Frederick Church

A SAD CASE—We have to record the death of Frederick, son of Mr. G. K. Church, of this town, under the following circumstances. The young man, who was only 20 years of age, had suffered for some years with a bad knee, and had, beside being under other surgeons, been an in-patient at the Northampton Infirmary, but failed to get cured. Recently he went to Guy's Hospital, London, and on Thursday, the 15th, he underwent an operation and had a bone taken from his knee. The operation being a very difficult one necessitated a large quantity of chloroform being used, and after the operation he did not appear to come round quite right, and his father was sent for on Friday. When he got there, the young man came round sufficiently to recognise and speak to him, and both hoped the worst was over. The young man, however, unfortunately sank and died at one o'clock on Sunday morning.
