THE MILITARY MEDAL won by the late Sergt. J. Bass in April, 1918 (when he was corporal) was received by his mother, Mrs. Bass, of North-end, Higham Ferrers, a native of Upper Dean, on Wednesday, together with a parchment document stating that Corpl. Bass, 1st Beds Regiment, was mentioned in dispatches by General Plumer for gallant and distinguished services in the field. The document records the high appreciation of the King for rendered by Corpl. Bass, whose death took place Sept. 7th, 1918.
