Private William Andrews - Local Soldier Killed

Mrs. Fred Harris, formerly of 2 Gordon-street, Rushden, and now of Hillcroft, Irchester-road, Rushden, has received a document from the War Office to state the death of her brother, 14380 Pte. William Andrews, Northants Regt., who has been missing since May 9th 1915, may now presumed.

The late Pte. Andrew was 29 years of age and was a native of Higham Ferrers. Prior to his enlistment in the month following the outbreak of war, he was an employee of Messrs. West Bros., and was highly respected by his shopmates. He went to the front at the end of March 1915, and up to the battle of Aubers Ridge had received no injury.

Mrs. Harris has one other brother serving with the colours—Pte. Joseph Harry Andrews, who is in the 78th battalion Canadian Contingent. He enlisted immediately on the receipt of the news that his brother was missing, letting his farm that he had been working for ten years.
