Funeral of Mr Alfred Sawford

Mr. Alfred Sawford, who died at his home, 10, Corporation-terrace, Higham Ferrers, on Wednesday at the age of 80 years, was a resident of Knotting, Bedfordshire, and had been a farm labourer all his life. Mr. Sawford had been in fairly good health for the past nine months. He went to bed as usual on Tuesday, and died peacefully in his sleep.

He had lived in Higham Ferrers for about 31 years, and was employed by Mr. H. Eady Robinson until seven years ago. A widow and two sons, Arthur and Harry Sawford, are bereaved.

The funeral is to take place on Saturday.


The funeral of Mr Alfred Sawford, aged 80, who died on March 8 at his home, 10, Corporation-terrace, Higham Ferrers, took place on Saturday. The service was held at the Higham Ferrers Parish Church, and was conducted by the Rector of Rushden, the Rev. E. A. Green, who also officiated at the cemetery.

Family mourners were Mrs. Sawford (widow), Mr and Mrs Arthur Sawford, Mr and Mrs Sudborough (son and daughter-in-law), Mr H Sawford (son), Mr and Mrs Herbert Cannell, New Wittington (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mrs C Stubbs, Titchmarsh (granddaughter), Mr W Robinson, Weston Favell (nephew), Mr A Sawford, (Knotting) (nephew), and Mr H Warren (friend).
