Irchester Young Private Meets a Hero’s Death

News is to hand of the death of Private Alfred James of the 1st Northants Regiment who was killed in action on December 21st. He was brought up by Mr and Mrs Joseph Church, of Irchester, and was 18 years of age last November.

Irchester Man Killed - Only 18 Years of Age
Pte Alfred James, of Irchester, who celebrated his 18th birthday in November last, has fallen at the front. He was brought up by Mr and Mrs Joseph Church, of Irchester, and served in the 1st Northamptonshires. It is reported that he was fatally wounded on Dec 21st.
