Military Funeral—A large number of sympathisers attended the funeral, conducted by the Rev H K Fry, of the late Sergt. Alfred Blunt, at Higham cemetery on Monday. The first part of the service was held at St Mary’s Church (of the choir of which Mr Blunt was a member), the surplice choir attending. Under the direction of Regt.-Sergt.-Major Asplin, a firing party of 14 men of the Higham contingent of the 2nd Batt. Northants Volunteer Regiment were present at the grave side and fired three volleys over the grave. The coffin was covered with the Union Jack, deceased’s cap, bayonet and belt, being on top. The “Last Post” was sounded by the buglers of St Mary’s K.R.R. Cadet Corps. The bearers were Sergts. B Tompkins, A Pettit, and A Lawson, and Corpl. H Wright. Mr F Parker carried out the funeral arrangements.
