The small village of Yelden, whose population is now only 140, has been quite unfortunate just lately, losing three of its old inhabitants within a week, viz., Mrs. Bowd, Mr. C. Rogers, and Mr. T. Wagstaff.

Mrs. Bowd, who had the post office, also the grocer’s shop, for many years, was taken last Wednesday to be buried near her late husband at Wellingborough.

On Thursday Mr. Charles Rogers was laid to rest in the village churchyard. Mr. Rogers had suffered a long and painful illness for more than a year. As Mr. Rogers’ family is much respected in Yelden most of the inhabitants attended the funeral, which was conducted by the Rector (Rev. C. Howes Smith). Many beautiful wreaths from the family and friends were sent.

Then on Saturday the funeral took place of Mr. T. Wagstaff, who had attained the ripe age of 84. The deceased for most of his life had a blacksmith’s shop in the village and was well known.
