Wollaston

Wollaston is an extensive village and parish, in the hundred of Higham Ferrers, diocese of Peterborough, and archdeaconry of Northampton, distant 3 miles south-south-east from Wellingborough. The population in 1851 was 1,261, and the parish contains about 2,812 acres of land; the river Nene also runs through the parish. The Church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a fine cruciform edifice, with a stately tower rising from the intersection, surmounted by a spire; the living is a discharged vicarage, annexed with that of Irchester. There is a Wesleyan and Independent chapel.

Post office—James Reynolds, postmaster. Letters arrive at 8a.m., dispatched at 4.50p.m., are received through Wellingborough.
