Wollaston Fires

Wellingborough News, 25th March 1887, transcribed by Kay Collins

FIRE — On Tuesday last, about three o'clock, a straw stack in a field on the side of the Wellingborough-road, belonging to Mr. Hezekiah Palmer of Wollaston, was burnt down A strong wind was blowing at the time, and the stack was soon consumed by the flames. A small barn near the straw stack was also destroyed. The fire is supposed to have been caused by the sparks from a traction engine which passed by shortly before the fire broke out.
