Rushden Echo, 7th September 1918, transcribed by Kay Collins
Walnut-Tree Farmhouse
Mr. Eady Robinson

Fire—Some alarm was caused at Walnut-Tree Farmhouse on Sunday morning, when it was discovered that a beam situated in an old-fashioned chimney was smouldering, and that there was the likelihood of a serious outbreak. It appears that the danger was discovered by Mrs. Eady Robinson, who, going to the chimney corner which has been modernised, a part having been boarded over, and here a quantity of soot had accumulated. This having been ignited, set fire in turn to a supporting beam, and when the fire was discovered it was doubtless just on the point of developing into a serious outbreak. Mr. Eady Robinson at once notified the Fire Brigade, who brought the hose-cart, and had everything in readiness to deal with an outbreak should it occur. On stripping away the boards, however, it was found possible to extinguish the fire by the use of a couple of chemical extinguishers.
