Railway Station Fire
Mysterious Outbreak at Railway Station

The station house at the Ringstead and Addington Station of the London Midland and Scottish Railway was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning. Only the walls and chimney stacks remain.

The fire is a mystery, for the house was empty, the family of Mr. Rogers, until recently the stationmaster, having moved out a few days earlier. The house was practically destroyed when the fire was discovered, and no call was made for a Fire Brigade.

Also it’s noted on this day of the fire the R100 airship flew over Ringstead junior school and the teachers let the school children out to wave at the airship. And, as no contact was available to Raunds Fire Service, the station burnt to the ground leaving just a couple of walls in tact. When news of the fire got to the village many women (some with prams) ran to see the fire which was 1 mile from the village.
