Rushden Echo, 29th August 1919, transcribed by Kay Collins
Rectory-row, Stanwick

Fire broke out on Wednesday morning in the cottage in Rectory-row, occupied by Mrs. Currall, and considerable damage was done, although the fire was confined to one room. Mrs. Currall had left some clothes in front of the fire to “air” them, and, the door being open, the wind blew the garments into the fire. Mrs. Currall was upstairs at the time, and her attention was not attracted to the fire until it was too late to go downstairs and get out through the open door. She was rescued from the bedroom window. The Raunds Fire Brigade were sent for and were quickly on the scene, extinguishing the fire in a short time. The cottage is at the end of a row of six houses.
