Pop singer opens new-look boutique

Barry Noble, a young local man beginning to make a big impression on the "pop music" scene in London, was in Higham Ferrers on Saturday morning to officially open the Higham Ferrers Co-operative Society's Fashion Centre in College Street. Giving him a fashion note on some of the new dresses above is Mrs. Janeen Keys, in charge of the boutique.

Barry echoed the impression of the many customers when he said the opening of the shop got away from the idea people have about the society being a little old fashioned.

The society have in fact produced a transformed shop which shows that it can meet the needs of the most modern mum, or teenager.

The front of the ground floor is devoted to fashion with fitting rooms at the rear together with the household goods department- Upstairs there are two departments, the first for children and then the Ferris Wheel the part of the shop purely for the fashion conscious females under 25. Experts have chosen the clothes and a young but knowledgeable assistant will be taking the orders.
