bank note unused

I am interested in the history of banking. Many of these small eighteenth century banks were set up by local philanthropists and were soon bought out by others to create larger banks. I believe Barclays owes its history to several hundred banks that have coalesced over the years.

The bank was owned by Sharman, Brown and Goodhall, and in common with many banks of the period, used Esdaile and Co in London as their clearing bank.

I looked up the bank on the British Museum website. It appears that the bank can be shown to be active during the years from 1790-1799. Only two other banknotes and two unused cheques are recorded by the BM.
