Rushden Echo & Argus, 18th May 1945
VictoryThe early part of V.E.-Day was celebrated in a quiet way. Victory bells rang at 4 p.m. and a thanksgiving service was conducted in the Parish Church by the Rector (Rev. F. Taylor) in the evening. Many of the houses were bedecked with flags and bunting and in the evening fireworks and bonfires added to the liveliness. On the Wednesday the celebrations were continued and finished with a dance in the Church Rooms. Mr. A. Gates's Band supplied the music and Mr. F. Gates was M.C. Proceeds are for the Serving Men's Fund.
