J. H. Taylor & Drage
Wholesale and Export Boot and Shoe Manufacturers - Bozeat, Northampton

Mr J H Taylor THE above business was founded in February, 1907, by Mr. J. H. TAYLOR who came from Northampton in 1904 to manage the business Messrs. F. Goodman and Son, who gave up shoe manufacturing in December, 1906, to extend their leather business. Mr. Taylor started business in a roomy cottage until a factory was built on the Easton Road, which he entered into in October, 1907. By steady progress the business grew beyond the factory capacity, and at Xmas, 1914 he decided to take into partnership Mr. J. E. DRAGE, son of the late Mr John Drage, with whom he had been associated all his business career. From date of partnership they decided to erect a new and more commodious factory, situate on the London Road, fitted up with electric light made from their suction gas plant, which they have occupied since June, 1915. In normal times this firm's productions hold a good reputation in the shipping market, especially South Africa and India, in men's and youths' medium-class boots and shoes, in M.S. rivetted, standard screwed and stitched, for the production of which the factory is equipped with the latest machinery. They have also given their attention to the home trade in markets, and during War time they have been making Ankle Boots and Cossack Long Boots for our Russian Allies.
